Keeping your life organized is often a juggling act. Hardly one ball caught — your finances, your family commitments, or your outings with friends — the next rushes towards you.

Unfortunately, some balls end up on the ground: weeks of going to bed (too) late, sloppy meals, and a healthy dose of procrastination by focusing on low-impact tasks rather than those of real importance.

Rather than tossing life’s decisions into the air hoping to catch them all as planned, use a framework to keep all areas of your life in order. This is why planning and organizing are important!

Even the best-laid plans don’t work if you don’t see them through.

I have compiled in brief about our day-to-day lives, necessities, and how to stick to your life plan.

I’ve covered a few rules for living life even when it isn’t going as planned. Then we’ll see how to apply them in all the important areas of your life: work, school, business, home, health and fitness, finances, and your relationships.

But first, let’s understand life in general. Our lives consist of talking about what matters to us, what we do and what we would like to do, how we face hard knocks, what we hope for etc.

I am not stating that it would never go as planned, instead, it might be possible if we accept the fact that our plans haven’t been working out as they are too rigid. Once you learn to accept that the next step is to have a simple plan and stick to being as organized as possible.

Life doesn’t have to always be rigidly planned, the chances of you succeeding in life increase when you are flexible and organized. For example, you may not be able to start a restaurant with your current life situation. But, if you take up a better job offer in a different city even though your “plan is to stay where you are. You could always save and gain experience and come back as long as you are organized and stick to your end goal in life.

The way in which we live and work depends on our education, occupation, and family background. Our plans are based on our financial capability and long-term goals. You could plan well on starting a small business this year but life doesn’t go as planned as you are unable to quit your job.

Consumption of goods and services influenced by media engages the question of happiness because only consumption arises from a choice. When you see a product or service advertised in a beautiful way, chances are: you would buy it even though you have no need or use for it. The same goes for news and other relevant information available for you on print and social media.

We seem confused at first but then again we adjust to new information that might bring changes to our daily life without fact-checking. This can impact you in the long run if you consume information made available without comprehending your opinions with it. Your mindset becomes you.

If you are wondering “how is the consumption of media related to my life plans?” Media consumption includes beliefs and knowledge of the present situation around you, which is what you base your decision on. This in turn has an impact on your mindset. Your mindset is what makes you guide each plan.

How does your mindset become you?

We cannot dispute that we are guided by what our fellow human beings manifest. We cannot deny wanting to act on them by our actions. Your mindset becomes you.

Now that you have a general understanding of why rigidly laid plans don’t work and how your mindset affects your life plans. Let’s move on to possible ways to stay organized to achieve flexible long-term goals in life.

Organize Your Life

By following simple rules and applying them, you will organize your life in a way that will lead to calmer, more orderly days.

Develop habits and create a routine: Once you have the habits you want in your life, put them together into a daily routine that boosts your productivity.

  1. Flexible Plan: Life is full of unpredictable twists and turns. This is not, but, a reason to abandon any idea of planning.
  2. Consistency rather than perfection: By understanding the impact of progressive advancements and the power of combined effort, we can be more realistic and get the most out of life.
  3. Find the balance: Balance is often the poor relation of our attempt to do everything and organize our lives.
  4. Prioritize: “You can do whatever you want, but not all that is possible.” — David Allen. By refusing what doesn’t serve your primary goals, you can focus your attention on what matters.
  5. Declutter and simplify: It’s hard to feel organized when your mind is turned upside down, as well as your office and home. Some of the chaos in our lives is the result of too much material stuff, too much to do, too much to think about. Remember when you want to organize your life: less is more.
  6. Automate or outsource: Technology can automate your repetitive tasks. Organize your life by implementing automation that takes away the active effort and frees up your time and energy.
  7. Experiment: The final piece of the Organize Your Life framework is one of the most exciting: trying new things and looking for new experiences!

Sometimes things don’t go as planned. Other times your plans get wobbly. This is the best time to introduce something new into your life and get out of a routine that no longer works.
