Many dream dreams but only a few achieve them

Having an incredible dream and not doing anything about it, gives you transient joy, yet it ruins your life.

It makes you feel important, but only in your own view.

It makes you a daydreamer, not an achiever.

Achievers are those who do great things in the world. Achievers are not born, they are made with their choices.

Let’s take a look at a few life choices that categorize us into dreamers or achievers.

1. Achievers adjust to change while dreamers give up

“The best approach to begin is to stop talking and start doing.”-Walt Disney.

When the situation is not in their favor, achievers readily adjust their course but dreamers blame their luck and give up. People who achieve great things, put in the efforts to get what they want.

They wake up ahead of schedule, prepare, train in all parts of their lives to meet their goals. Achievers take the necessary steps to get going, while dreamers justify difficulties and obstacles as reasons to delay.

2. See life like successful people

Unlike dreamers, achievers observe and learn from accomplished people whom they admire, which helps them to focus on important goals and divert their attention from negative aspects of life towards the opportunistic aspect.

Achievers look for ways to improve their skills and continue to work towards success. They believe that your efforts count.

Rather than being like a dreamer who thinks that their abilities are fixed or blocked, achievers believe that effort and hard work can lead to significant growth.

3. Take decisions

We don’t always realize it, but life is a series of daily decisions.

Decisions make you accountable for your work. The choices we make have more or less serious consequences for our future, but they all have the particularity of opening some doors and closing others.

That’s why you choose not to decide anything. But, you cannot deny that you have responsibilities.

Dreamers who don’t make decisions are responsible for inaction, which can create even bigger problems.

Achievers take decisions and open the door to a reflection that opens other doors and take them on the paths of wisdom, forgiveness, and peace of mind.

4. Ask for support

Having an answer to everything is a myth. No one is obliged to know all the things. But everyone must know when and how to ask for help.

Achievers do not hesitate in asking for support. They ask for support from the right person whenever required. They are not egoistic like dreamers.

The ego is the central part of our personality responsible for finding a balance between buried forces, such as impulses, family and social prohibitions, and external realities. Buddhist philosophy insists on the illusory aspect of an ego that pushes us to believe that we are in the center of the world. Free ourselves from an ego that is often oversized.

5. Accept failures

We all aspire to accomplish ourselves, but our journeys are marked by missed opportunities, unfortunate decisions, sometimes irreparable acts. We don’t rebuild the past, but we can build a future for ourselves.

Achievers accept their failures and work to improve themselves. While daydreamers either blame others for this or blame their luck. In either way, they shut the doors to accept feedback and improve themselves.

Never consider failure as an inability to achieve goals, but rather as proof that you are approaching your goals. Take the example of a baby learning to walk. He falls down several times before managing to walk.

Accepting failure prepares you for this eventuality. By failing, you discover something to avoid next time. This is how achievers see things to determine how to accept failures.

6. Choose not to cry over spilt milk

Sometimes, life doesn’t go as we’ve planned. In this situation, achievers do not sit and cry to blame their luck. Instead, they think about how to get out of it.

Achievers continue regardless of the difficulties they stand up to, being driven and engaged they will coordinate their endeavors on distinguishing arrangements and push advances.

They understand the way to progress is definitely not an immediate course and in this way, their need to adjust to change is important.

7. Choose to feel good about yourself

To feel good about yourself, you must love the person you are, completely.

It takes work and significant adjustments to learn to accept oneself and deal with the lack of happiness in your life.

Feeling good about yourself helps you to make informed decisions. By doing this, achievers focus more on their work instead of thinking negative about their life.

You must first identify the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that prevent you from feeling good.

Then, you must work to create a lifestyle that allows you to feel more important, loved, and satisfied. Here are some things which can help you to love yourself;

  • Love yourself, it’s simple
  • Be proud of your strengths
  • Expect to have a bad day
  • Develop a positive attitude
  • Accept your thoughts
  • Do what seems right

We delay things until tomorrow by giving ourselves a pardon “I don’t have time today” or “I will do this tomorrow”. Yet, the truth of the matter is that we don’t do a lot to chip away at our dreams.

Hence, picturing your dream isn’t enough. When you envision your dream, convert it into a goal and endeavor to achieve it, and don’t allow any excuse to come in the middle of you and your dream.

Dream it — Believe it — Envision it — Plan it — Work on it — Enjoy it.
